Are you Considering Joining the Marching Virginians in 2008?

If you want to learn more about The Spirit of Tech, please contact our director, David McKee, or assistant director, Will Petersen. Both are happy to meet with you and your family during a visit to campus, and they can give you details about life as a member of The Marching Virginians! You’re also welcome to e-mail either of them to introduce yourself.

Regardless of your plans in the coming months, please see Dave or Will in Squires Student Center when you come to campus for your summer orientation. Their offices are right around the corner from the room where you'll have your student ID photo taken. They can provide you with complete details about auditions, Band Camp, and your early arrival on campus. Both can also answer questions about other music ensembles, so drop by even if you're not certain you plan to audition for the MVs!

Auditions occur at Band Camp, and your arrival in Blacksburg is dependent upon what instrument you play:
August 17 (Sun) Leadership, Percussion
August 18 (Mon) New Flags
August 19 (Tues) Returning Flags
August 20 (Wed) New Winds
August 21 (Thur) Returning Winds

Do you stand a chance? ABSOLUTELY! Approximately 95% of incoming freshmen make the band. Prepare for success (and re-introduce your horn to your face during the summer!).

We mail out detailed Band Camp information in July. If you don't receive Band Camp information by the beginning of August, please call!
