KKΨ & TBΣ: Serving the Marching Virginians
The Eta Beta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and Zeta Omicron chapter of Tau Beta Sigma are the
National Honorary Band Service Fraternity and Sorority at Virginia Tech. The Eta Beta chapter,
installed in 1974, and Zeta Omicron chapter, installed in 1977, are instrumental in providing support
to The Marching Virginians, the University Concert Bands and the Virginia Tech Department of Music.
Specifically with The Marching Virginians, the chapters assist in the coordination and execution
of The Marching Virginians Band Camp with such projects as the KKY/TBS Workday, the Rookie Picnic,
and the many equipment moves and numerous setups and teardowns over the course of the week that are
essential to making Band Camp a first-class experience for auditioning students.
During the academic year, both chapters are deeply involved with many of the most visible events
associated with The Marching Virginians including Band Parents Day, MV Band Day, Band-A-Rama, and
Hokies for the Hungry. In addition, both groups provide ushering and stage management for Department
of Music concerts and collate tens of thousands of pages of drill throughout the season!
Eta Beta and Zeta Omicron were bestowed the distinct honor of hosting the Kappa Kappa Psi
and Tau Beta Sigma Northeast District Convention in the Spring of 2008!
