MV Website Redesigned

After several months of work, The Marching Virginians are pleased to unveil their revamped online home, spiritoftech.music.vt.edu! The site is the result of the tireless efforts of former MVs Paul and Linda Correll, who now are serving as MVs Webmasters. The site gives online visitors a vast array of information and multimedia content about The Marching Virginians. Better yet, the new URL is easy to remember and share with others!

The first major difference in the site is the layout. Visitors will find a new primary menu at the top of the page providing information about three core areas. "About the Band" highlights the history of The Marching Virginians from their first performance in 1974 through the present day and includes information about the many outreach efforts the MVs are involved in every year. The "Fun Facts" and "FAQ" pages have surprising and quirky trivia that people do not know about the MVs and the most commonly asked questions that we receive about the band.

The "Sights and Sounds" menu, while content is still being added daily, provides a fabulous interactive way to view photos, audio and video of the MVs. In the "Photos" section you will find pictures from the 2007 season as well as archives of seasons past. Get a chance to hear Tech Triumph, Carry Me Back, and the VPI Victory March in the "Audio" section! And a completely new addition to the MVs website - VIDEO! See portions of Pregame from the press box of Lane Stadium including the "H O K I E S" Spell-Out, Commonwealth Run-On, and the 90 yard "VT" - all signature moments from The Marching Virginians pregame show! Don’t forget to watch the Marching Virginians performing The Hokie Pokie in dance-block during a VT halftime!

High school students interested in auditioning for The Marching Virginians have a new section, "How To Join", that provides them with valuable information about auditioning for the MVs. Prospective members will find information about MVs Band Camp, the MVs Handbook and their own "Frequently Asked Questions" section that covers common questions about the band and how to audition! In addition, students can now be added the Prospective Members mailing list online!

On the sidebar menus you will find a new section called "Meet the Band" where you can meet the student officers that are instrumental in the band’s operation as well as a short write-up on each of the sections that make up The Marching Virginians. Those currently in the band now will notice the "Current Members" section that includes a new "Announcements" page as well as "Gameday Schedule" and RSS subscription pages.

There’s much more to view at spiritoftech.music.vt.edu but you should explore it for yourself! As we move through the holiday season you will see more new features added to the site, but for now, replace your bookmarks and go visit the new online home of The Spirit of Tech!
